Capacity building describes "strategies implemented to build knowledge and skills, often in the context of welcoming new people to a project, campaign, or movement; efforts to sustain and strengthen engagement through care work, opportunities to upskill, and community-based learning." -Michelle Xie [1]
Examples of capacity building
- An ongoing buddy system that pairs new members with older ones to pass skills/knowledge
- Skill up/training opportunities
- Scheduled time off, social events for the team, member check-ins
- Community outreach
