Mass incarceration is the imprisonment of a large portion of a country’s population, especially in comparison to historical rates of imprisonment; a rapid influx of incarceration in nations like the U.S. that disproportionately impacts poor, racialized, and disabled communities - Brennan Centre for Justice, adapted by Michelle Xie [1]
