Individuals, groups and movements claiming to be anti-imperialist denounce the imperial discourse used to make this type of policy acceptable to the population. Imperialism is a "policy, practice, or advocacy of extending the power and dominion of a nation especially by direct territorial acquisitions or by gaining indirect control over the political or economic life of other areas." -Merriam Webster. [1] Anti-imperialism opposes this domination.
